- More than 100 technology, financial, and cybersecurity companies have warned of a rapidly growing threat of AI cyberattacks.
- In the first half of 2026, 201 hacks of crypto platforms were recorded.
Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly dangerous tool in the hands of cybercriminals. Therefore, more than 100 leading tech companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Google, Cloudflare, AWS, Oracle, Mastercard, Visa, Capital One, Adobe, and IBM, have issued a warning about the growing threat of AI attacks on the crypto industry, Reuters reports.
According to the latest data from TRM Labs, the security situation in the cryptosphere has significantly worsened. In the first half of 2026, 201 hacks of crypto platforms were recorded, more than double the number of hacks in the same period last year (83 incidents). In July alone, attackers stole approximately $247 million from various crypto services.
According to Anthropic, the share of serious cyberthreats has grown from 33% to 56% over the past year. Moreover, AI not only creates risks but also helps protect against them, as cybersecurity specialists used AI to identify 4962 potential vulnerabilities in 390 projects in just 30 hours of analysis.
Experts are particularly concerned about AI's ability to automate complex tasks that previously required skilled hackers. Therefore, the group also wants security organizations to have greater access to advanced AI models for defense.
