Prediction market operator Kalshi has expanded its line of American Perpetual Contracts, adding contracts tied to Zcash (ZEC) and Near Protocol (NEAR), as well as perpetual contracts for Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). This brings the total number of supported crypto assets to 13.
Contracts are available through a structure approved by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and have no expiration dates. Zcash and Shiba Inu (KSHIB) perpetual contracts offer up to 2x leverage, while Near contracts offer up to 2,6x leverage.
The following applications include assets such as XRP , Solana , Dogecoin , Chainlink , Litecoin , Bitcoin Cash, Sui, Hyperliquid, Polkadot , Hedera, and Stellar . Kalshi has already received approval for most of these , while contracts related to Stellar , Polkadot , and Hedera are still under review by the CFTC.
The regulator is also battling with some states, such as Kentucky, for their attempts to enforce gambling laws against Kalshi , Polymarket , and brokerage partners working with Coinbase, Robinhood, and Webull.
In a complaint filed in federal court, the regulator argues that the designated contract markets, operating under federal oversight, fall under the Commodity Exchange Act, not state gambling regulations. However, Kentucky officials insist that contracts related to sporting events meet the state's definition of sports betting and are therefore subject to local licensing requirements.
