- Hashdex will close and liquidate its bitcoin ETF CHALLENGE.
- The fund's last trading day is August 17., which will be followed by its delisting from NYSE Arca.
Hashdex, the management company, announced it is shutting down its Bitcoin spot fund and will return funds to its remaining investors. To achieve this, all 225 coins held by the fund will be sold in the coming weeks.
The fund's issuer made this decision after evaluating factors such as trading liquidity, operating expenses, and investor interest. According to the fund's website, the 200,000 shares, which have traded on the NYSE ARCA exchange under the ticker DEFI since March 2024 , have net assets of $14,25 million. According to SoSoValue , the Hashdex Bitcoin Futures ETF , originally launched in 2022 as a Bitcoin futures ETF , reached its peak asset level of $17,54 million on May 9, 2025.

Hashdex will cease trading after the market close on August 17. After that, the company will begin liquidating the fund's assets and delist its shares. Investors can continue to buy and sell DEFI shares through their brokers until the final trading session, although market prices may diverge from the fund's net asset value as the market closes.
Investors who continue to hold BTC- ETF assets after the last trading day will not receive any Bitcoin. Instead, the issuer will sell its assets and distribute the remaining amount in cash after deducting liabilities and liquidation expenses.
