- Founder Mobilum CEO Wojciech Kaszycki listed changes in the banking sector that will support Bitcoin integration.
- One of the main markers is the integration of Bitcoin into credit transactions.
Wojciech Kaszycki, founder and chairman of the board of directors of Mobilum and strategic advisor to BTCS SA, believes that the integration of digital assets into banking interfaces for foreign exchange transactions will remove only one minor obstacle for institutional market participants.
He noted that treasury specialists attach greater importance to factors such as counterparty identification, internal risk coordination, asset storage standards, auditor requirements, and the procedure for reflecting each transaction in the company's accounting system.
An integrated system should link Bitcoin transactions with the credit lines, limits, approval procedures, and back-office processes that financial institutions already use to manage currencies. This would allow treasury departments to account for cryptocurrency as a regular balance sheet item rather than treating it as a separate project.
If it's just a new ticker in the interface, and all the processes behind it are performed manually, it's just a demo version, Kashitsky noted.
The expert noted that spot trading volumes are a poor indicator of institutional investor adoption of cryptocurrencies, as trading activity can grow without indicating any intention on the part of companies or funds to hold digital assets.
He cites bank lending for spot purchases as a second indicator of Bitcoin adoption. The lack of a pre-funded deposit required for a transaction indicates that the bank's risk management team has assessed the asset, set investment limits, and approved transactions within the institution's established lending framework.
The appearance of Bitcoin on banks' balance sheets as collateral for loans would send a powerful signal, especially if lenders disclose the discounts they apply to the collateral.
When a bank has to value an asset, ensure its safekeeping, and, if necessary, sell it—that's real acceptance. Everything else is just marketing.
