MonaCoin

MonaCoin (MONA)

MonaCoin (MONA) is a cryptocurrency that was launched in Japan in 2013. It is a fork of Litecoin, meaning MonaCoin is based on the Litecoin source code, but has some differences.

MONA was created to become an alternative digital currency for Japanese audiences, especially for online payments in Japan, where cash payments are still a popular payment method.

MonaCoin uses a Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm called Lyra2RE(v2), which was specifically designed for this cryptocurrency. It also has some unique features including fast block times, improved performance, and support for Atomic Swaps.

MONA also has its own ecosystem, including wallets, exchanges and payment systems that allow users to use cryptocurrency for a variety of purposes, from online payments to microtransactions and donations.
