The Metaverse is a persistent virtual space in which people can interact with each other and with digital objects through their avatars, using virtual reality technologies. Interaction can occur through various technological devices, including traditional personal computers and virtual and augmented reality headsets.
Venture investor Matthew Ball named 7 basic principles of the metaverse:
- Be constant. There are no pauses or reboots - this is an immanent, endless world.
- Exist synchronously for everyone and in real time.
- Have no limit on the number of users.
- Have a fully functioning domestic economy. People can not only spend money there, but also earn money, open their own business, invest and sell.
- Link real life and virtual life together. This is not so much a world separate from the present as its augmentation, its addition.
- Provide users with “unprecedented interoperability” of data. So that if you buy clothes for your avatar in Fortnite, you can use them in any other game or application.
- Be open to any authors and content makers who can create their own “experiences” within the metaverse.
