Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is a Bitcoin fork created in October 2017. It was created to improve and simplify Bitcoin mining for ordinary users using the Equihash algorithm, which was originally developed for the Zcash cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin Gold was the first cryptocurrency to use the Equihash algorithm for mining, allowing miners to use regular computers and graphics cards to mine coins. This makes mining more accessible to users and increases the decentralization of the network.
Like the original Bitcoin, Bitcoin Gold uses a Proof-of-Work algorithm to confirm transactions and mine new coins. However, BTG has some technical differences from Bitcoin, such as a modified address format, block size and block generation time.
Bitcoin Gold also includes additional features such as Replay Protection and Lightning Network algorithm support, which improve transaction security and efficiency.
Like other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin Gold has its own rate and market capitalization, and can be used to purchase goods and services, as well as for trading on cryptocurrency exchanges.
